Like a debater dropping the mic after a particularly burning argument, Mojang’s Jens Bergensten dropped some information about a rather exciting upcoming feature to Minecraft: LAN. Yeah, that’s right. No more need to set up some crazy server or pay someone to do it for you. All you’ll have to do is type /publish, and buddies on the same network as you will be able to hop into your world. Neat!
Granted, Bergensten specifies that the LAN mode "is still very much work in progress," so its functionality isn’t quite up to snuff as of yet. You’ve even got to turn on cheats to be able to use it. If you want to check it out, take a peek at Minecraft Snapshot Week 24 on the Mojang developer blog.
