Assassins Creed 3 Screenshots, Details Emerge

It’s official: Assassin’s Creed 3 is coming, and it’s set during the American Revolution. Sounds promising, eh? Well, prepare to get even more excited, because if these beautiful new screenshots are anything to go by, this game looks seriously stunning too. The five images below show our hooded hero exploring colonial-era townships, snowy forests… and, wait, is he about to shoot a moose with a bow? Yes. Yes, he is.

NeoGAF also features a handy round-up of the GameInformer article in which Assassin’s Creed 3 was first unveiled. It seems players will take the role of a character with two names: "Connor" and "Ratohnhake:ton". The reason for this duel-identity is that the protagonist has an English father and a Native American mother.

According to the article, the game will be set between the years of 1753 and 1783, and will be centered around the cities of Boston and New York. Key characters to feature in the game include George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee.

On the gameplay side of things, players will now be able to leap and climb trees, and yes, hunt and kill animals. Game Informer also mentions that the AC3 engine will be able to "depict thousands of troops engaged in bloody battle". Nice.
