BeeSage Startup Interview

BeeSage is beehive monitoring system that maximises honey production by eliminating risks and enabling informed decisions.

Can you briefly explain what your solution is all about? What’s unique about it?

BeeSage is a beehive monitoring system that maximises honey production by eliminating risks and enabling informed decisions. We give beekeepers new insights and optimise their workflow to make them more effective in taking care of their colonies and reduce bee mortality.

Our system is completely cloud-based and enabled by mobile networks, unlike solutions where the beekeeper needs to be near the apiary to read the data. We avoid the use of unnecessary wires, our design is very practical and the whole experience is user-friendly.

How can your solution impact the AgriTech sector?

We use IoT technology in apiculture not only to increase the productivity of beekeepers but also to boost the bee population by adapting to the effects of climate change.

What’s the biggest milestone your startup has achieved so far, and what challenges are you still trying to overcome?

We launched our first product Smart Beehive Scales at the end of December and have been focused on implementing feedback from our first customers. Challenges never end, especially when it comes to connected hardware. We have multiple other products in development that will together make the full system and are looking to implement multiple other sensors to make it possible to turn any beehive into a smart hive.

How has X-Europe helped you during the past few months?

The marketing training offered was top-notch. I had an opportunity to take part in a panel discussion during a conference and was contacted by a few investors. I was introduced to a great mentor who gave us valuable feedback on our copywriting, which helped us launch successfully.

After joining and benefiting from the services X-Europe has provided/will provide to you, what next steps do you envision?

We’ll keep developing the other products we want to launch, keep improving the whole system through feedback from our customers, and look to raise a seed round and expand our team in the second half of 2021.

What advice would you give to an entrepreneur trying to pave his/her way in the AgriTech sector?

If environmental protection is part of your mission, stay true to your cause and don’t pander to large corporates that only use sustainability as a facade to cover their wrongdoings. Focus on solving the specific problems of your users, while making a positive impact on the macro level.
