Google to test Project Loon in Australia with new carrier partner

Google plans to test Project Loon, its attempt to deliver internet connectivity via balloons, in Australia later this year. The search giant has partnered with Telstra, an Australian telecoms company, to test 20 balloons in December. Google has previously run Project Loon tests in New Zealand.
 
Ultimately, Google says the goal is have a constellation of balloons floating above regions where internet and wireless connectivity is scarce.
